For your consideration are two first edition Western/Cowboy themed books, "The Horses of the Conquest" by R. B. Cunninghame Graham (1949) and "In The Days of the Cowboy" by Donald Honig (1970). The first book "The Horses of the Conquest" is an American first edition as the original first edition was published in England in 1930. The author, Robert Bontine Cunninghame Graham, was a journalist and explorer who traveled extensively in South America before becoming a Liberal Party Member of the UK Parliament. His works and writings covered history, biographies, poetry, essays, politics, travel, and collections of short stories or literary sketches. It is filled with illustrations throughout. It shows a beige cloth cover with a a red colored illustration of a man in armor cleaning off his saddle while he stands next to his horse. The second book, "In the Days of the Cowboy" by Donald Honig is also a first edition, printed by Random House in New York and includes photographs and prints throughout. The book describes the year-round duties of the old West cowboy, his equipment, skills, and way of life on the great trail drives. The dust cover shows an image of a cowboy on his horse going down a steep hill.
