This is a fantastic high grade Winchester Repeating Arms Model 1885 High Wall single shot falling-block rifle chambered in the .32-40 W.C.F. (Winchester Center Fire) caliber. The rifle shows a heavy full octagon 28 inch special order barrel with rich mellow blue factory finish, adjustable rear sight and early Lyman round and brass tip two choice tip up front sight. The reveiver shows a rich colorful factory original case hardening finish and overall the firearm appears to be in 75%+ original factory condition, a true high grade condition for its early age. The Model 1885 High Wall is the more venerable and robust larger brother to the Model 1885 Low Wall with both being designed by historic gunsmith architect John browning. This rare example shows a serial number of 8031 and is a third year of production rifle, low serial number example. Along with the special heavy fully octagon barrel the rifle shows a deluxe solidwood grain walnut forestock and matching walnut stock having the original factory crescent metal butte plate. Unlike the competitors at the time, the Model 1885 shows a unique design and strong frame which shows a lever actuated falling-lock which both ejects the round on opening and cocks the hammer on closing, a very unique addition. The rifle is in good working order and shows fine condition. Top of the barrel is marked, "MANUFACTURED BY THE / WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A." and "32 W.C.F.". Antique Firearm requires NO FFL.
