For your consideration are two early, Great Northern Railway "Empire Builder" calendars with artwork done by Winold Reiss in 1937 and 1938. The first calendar is from 1937and shows the artwork titled, "Sun Dance". It shows Sun Dance standing up and playing the drum as he wears a headdress. It reads, "Route of the Empire Builder" on the sides of the poster calendar. The bottom reads, "Great Northern Railway / Between Chicago and the Pacific Northwest via Glacier National Park / Great Northern Railway". It features the months of August - December, 1937. The second calendar is from 1938 and features the artwork titled, "Bull Head - Blackfeet Medicine Man" and shows Bull Head sitting in front of a pipe wearing a very fine headdress. The calendar only features the month of December, 1938. The top reads, "Great Northern Route On The", while the right hand side reads, "Empire Builder". The bottom reads, "Between Chicago and the Pacific Northwest via Glacier National Park". The calendars show good condition overall with wear present from their age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. One is set on poster board and shrink wrapped to preserve its condition. Slight wear to edges and corners and slight tears present. They measure 34" L x 16 1/8" W and have a collective weight of under 6 ounces.
