For your consideration in this lot are two wooden hand made adjustable molding planes. A molding plane is a specialized plane used for making the complex shapes found in wooden moldings. Both planes measure 9 1/2" long and 5 1/2" wide (when closed) and 5 1/2" to there tallest point. The one plane is stamped W.A. Hudson at many spots and also is stamped A.C. Bartlett's Ohio Planes 69T. A.C. Bartlett was a president and/or partner of the hardware distributor, Hibbard, Spencer & Bartlett of Chicago. Their in-house brand of planes was A. C. Bartlett's Ohio Planes and were made for them by Sandusky, probably between 1882 and 1917. At one time in this planes life a pin and nut was added to one of the adjusting screws. The second plane has no markings to be found but other than that is just like the first plane, except the adjusting knobs are on the right side rather than the left side. The planes are made for different molding designs. Again the wood of this plane is in very good condition. This plane is in very good condition for its age
