This is an exceptional rare and authentic original graphite drawing from Woody Crumbo of a Potawatomi American Indian. Woody Crumbo or Woodrow Wilson “Woody” Crumbo (1912-1989) was a Native American Potawatomi artist whose works are held by several major museums, including the Smithsonian Institution and the Metropolitan Museum of Art along with the Thomas Gilcrease Institute. Woody Crumbo original works of art, such as this, are exceedingly rare with some works being valued and selling at auction in excess of $20,000. This appears to be an early example of his work. This is an original graphite drawing that has been professionally framed and is signed in the artwork in the bottom right. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and acquired by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. This visible art measures 5 3/4" x 8" with the frame measuring 14 1/4" x 17."
