Featured in this lot is this pair of WWII USMC officer sterling silver swagger sticks. The swagger sticks feature a wonderfully and professionally crafted finished hardwood and sterling silver construction that is marked 'sterling' on the tips and the heads of the swagger sticks with an Eagle, Globe, and Anchor emblem featured on the heads. During World War II, swagger sticks were used in the United States Marine Corps primarily as a symbol of authority and discipline among noncommissioned officers and some officers. Though not officially required by regulation, the stick, typically a short, polished baton, was carried under the arm or in hand during inspections, parades, or garrison duties. It conveyed command presence and professionalism, reinforcing military bearing and respect among the ranks. While its practical use was limited, the swagger stick became a traditional emblem of pride and leadership within the Corps during the war years. The condition of this pair of USMC swagger sticks well preserved with some slight wear marks to the finish of the shafts and patina to the sterling silver adornments but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of each swagger stick is 22" in length and 21 1/4" in length. The collective weight of these swagger sticks is 4oz.
