Featured in this lot is this Wyatt Earp PERSONAL photographs post-leaving Tombstone, AZ circa early 1900's; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. There are two personal photographs from Wyatt Earp in this collection. The first is a dapper photograph of Wyatt Earp later in life with his collie in a yard with walls behind and wearing white dress slacks and a nice darker over coat and a bow tie. The second is a photograph of Josephine and Wyatt Earp sitting the back yard later in life as he drinks some whiskey and enjoying the scenery. These photographs are from a private collection of his personal photographs. Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp (March 19, 1848 – January 13, 1929) was an American lawman in the American West, including Dodge City, Deadwood, and Tombstone. Earp was involved in the gunfight at the O.K. Corral, during which lawmen killed three outlaw Cochise County Cowboys. While Wyatt is often depicted as the key figure in the shootout, his brother Virgil was both Deputy U.S. Marshal and Tombstone City Marshal that day and had considerably more experience in law enforcement as a sheriff, constable, and marshal than did Wyatt. Virgil made the decision to enforce a city ordinance prohibiting carrying weapons in town and to disarm the Cowboys. Wyatt was only a temporary assistant marshal to his brother. The condition of this pair of personal photographs is well preserved with some browning to the photographs consistent with the age and shows material covering up the handwritten note on the back. The measurements of these photographs is 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" E-53
