Featured in this lot is this The State of Texas, El Paso County Justice Docket "Murder of Charles M. Linn by Cahill" circa 1885 with witness and testimony by Wyatt Earp; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. The document features the lawful charges brought against Robert Cahill of the murder of "Buck" Linn. Charles M. Linn was shot and killed in the Gem Saloon after the infamous "Gem Saloon Shooting" where Buck Linn believed Cahill was the shooter and hunted him for an hour between 12am and 1am where Cahill confronted the man after getting advice on how to stand his ground and fight by none other than Wyatt Earp himself who gave testimony that Cahill shot Buck Linn in defense and was later cleared of all charges. The document comes with an original museum tag that reads as follows: gem Saloon Murder 1885 witnessed by Wyatt Earp. The condition of this Texas Justice Docket is well preserved with some tears to the outside edge of the document and some slight discoloration to the paper due to age but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this document is 14 1/4" x 10 1/8".
