This is an original Montana Territory Knives of Bozeman, Montana knife with an excellent scrimshaw artwork of three bull elk inspired by Yellowstone National Park. This knife is truly a work of “Montana” art as it shows the group of three trophy bull elk scrimshaw set on Buffalo Horn grips and a forged “rustic” Damascus a tribute to the wilderness of our state and scrimshaw artwork Native American Indian heritage. The blade has been forged from 1095HC (High Carbon) steel and 15N20 Nickel Carbon which is then heated and folded into 396 layers creating the astounding “Damascus” steel. The knife shows a wonderful raindrop Damascus pattern. The hollow grind full tang blade has been paired with a set of nice white wild Buffalo bone grip scales which are secured to the piece using two mosaic pins of brass and copper. The knife also features a set of highly figured walnut bolsters with a comfortable finger well. The tang and knife spine have been artfully hand vine filled. The grips have also artfully been scrimshaw etched with image of three wonderful bull elk as they walk and graze with tall grass surounding their legs. The knife is in brand new condition. The blade is marked with the “MONTANA TERRITORY KNIVES BOZEMAN MONTANA” stamping which shows the outline of Montana. The knife has been paired with a Great American Bison Buffalo leather hand crafted sheath. The knife measures overall 9 1/4" in length with the blade measuring 4 3/4" long. The sheath and knife together measure 9 3/4" long.
