This is a Zapotec finely woven wool rug. This is made by the Zapotec Indians in in Oaxaca, Mexico. The Zapotec are significant because 400 years ago the Spanish missionaries taught the Navajo and Zapotec how to weave. These practices are still used today in both Zapatec and Navajo Tribes. The rug is in very good condition. The rug measures 56" L x 29" W.
