Up for auction is this vibrant and beautiful handmade Zapotec Indian Native American Rug. The Zapotec Indians are an indigenous people of Mexico and live in Teotilan del Valle, a village high up in the Mountains of Mexico at the edge of the Oaxacan Plateau. According to a gallery tag on the rug, the Zapotecs raise Merino Sheep, carding and spinning their wool by hand. The weaving is done by hand, using traditional designs and colors, on hand built looms. This rug shows wonderful design and color and is in excellent condition. The rug measures 106" long, and 56 1/2" wide.
