For your bidding pleasure is this Zuni Wayne C. Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Silver Buckle. This buckle is estimated to be more than 50 years old. The Zuni Native Americans live in the Pueblo of Zuni on the Zuni River in western New Mexico. The Zuni are known for their fine silversmithing which began in the 1870s after they learned fundamental techniques from the Navajo. By 1880, Zuni jewelers set turquoise in silver and many have become master silversmiths and perfected the skill of stone inlay. This buckle shows good design with "fine point" tooling of a feather with ten polished Sleeping Beauty turquoise stones. There is a interesting design bordering the buckle that looks like the enlarged imprint of a fingerprint. The buckle shows a mark on the back side of the buckle of Wayne C. The measurements of this buckle are 2 1/2" x 1 5/8.
