For your bidding consideration is an illustrated, 1878 First Edition of "Western Wilds and the Men Who Redeem Them" by J.H. Beadle, Jones Brothers & Company publishers. This book is a rare 19th-century account of voyages in the American West, primarily through Arizona and Utah. This book offers stories of interactions with Native American Indians (such as the Shoshone and Osage tribes), General Custer's Last Stand and defeat, life and death of Brigham Young and the rise of Mormonism, the Mountain Meadow Massacre, mining, geographical phenomena in the West, and much more! John Hanson Beadle (1840-1897), a journalist and author, wrote from experiences over eight years in the western states. Over 100 illustrations including a colour map of "Aboriginal America". This reddish cloth bound gold gilt stamped illustrated hardcover is in good overall condition, fading and scuffing exhibited on covers, loose boards. Intact pages exhibit age tanning and foxing throughout. Measures 6.5"W x 9.5"L x 1.75"D, weight is 3lb.
