Offered in this lot are Three (3) Outstanding books on American West Firearms including: "Sharps Rifle The Gun That Shaped American Destiny", by Martin Rywell, Pioneer Press; "For Collectors Only The .45-70 Springfield" by Joe Poyer and Craig Riesch, North Cape Publications; "Antique Guns A Collector's Guide" by John E. Traister, Stoeger Publishing Company. "Sharps Rifle The Gun That Shaped American Destiny", by Martin Rywell, is the story of Sharps firearms from the beginning. Not only are the priceless old illustrated Sharps catalogs reproduced but also a wealth of reliable material about Sharps cartridges and Sharps patents. As you enjoy little known American history, you will better understand the role of the Sharps. "For Collectors Only The .45-70 Springfield" by Joe Poyer and Craig Riesch provides a part-by-part review of all models of the Springfield .45-70 Trapdoor rifle, carbine and cadet rifle. Every part from butt plate to front sight of every model is discussed in terms of dimensions, use, markings, finish and changes to that part by serial number range. The .45-70 Springfield is a tangible piece of the history of our nation. And as such, it deserves to be correct. Secondly, the .45-70 Springfield's value depends in large part on how original it is. Parts that are incorrect can be replaced, returning the arm to both its historical and economic value. The book also provides a historical overview of the .45-70's development and use during the latter part of the 19th Century and into the 20th. Also included are assembly/disassembly instructions, cleaning and maintenance, glossary and bibliography. "Antique Guns A Collector's Guide" by John E. Traister, covers a vast spectrum of pre-1900 firearms manufactured by U.S. and foreign gunmakers. It includes detailed -descriptions, production data and current values of handguns, rifles, shotguns, blackpowder replicas and obsolete cartridges. A volume every serious collector will want to own. These books are in good overall condition, each richly illustrated. Smallest measures 5.5"W x 8.5"L x .25"D, largest is 8.25"W x 10.5"L x .75"D
