Offered in this lot we have a antique double sleigh bell leather strip with a total of 30 sleigh bells. The bells are firmly set to the rich brown leather strap, and shake with a gorgeous, reverberating tone. The bells are set in pairs with a iron backing. The piece shows a total of 15 pairs of bells set on a thick leather strap. The straps were often fixed to the reigns of a large carriage, to alert pedestrians of the oncoming traffic. The piece is in fair condition overall with the bells showing a warm patina and some slight damage, the leather backing is coming off in places and shows wear indicative of age.
