Antique Mexican Double Loop Leather Holster Belt

Antique Old West “Mexican Double Loop” holster and cartridge belt. The holster with tie down thong is designed to fit a Colt Single Action Army or Bisley revolver with a barrel length up to 5 ½”. At the top of the holster is an oval maker’s stamping “TRADE” over “ABERCROMBIE’S” over “NEW YORK” over “MARK.” The cartridge belt is a full 3 ¾” wide and has the maker’s stamp “F. A. MEANEA” over “CHEYENNE, WYO.” The belt is fitted with 35 cartridge loops of approx. .38-.41 caliber. The belt has an overall length of approx. 45” and is fitted with a nickel silver rectangular buckle. Underneath the buckle on the inner side of the belt is a cut slot for safekeeping of money. F. A. Meanea was a saddle and holster maker known for fine leather products before Wyoming became a state in 1890. The Mexican double loop holster was very popular through the turn of the last century and is often seen in period frontier photographs. The belt and holster leather show surface wear and use, but are in strong and solid condition. Great display and lots of cowboy history in this rig!
