This is an original Northern Athabascan Dog Fish Fire Bag on trade clothe with beadwork. The fire bag or firebag is referred to as a K’enq’ena viqizdluyi in Dena’ina Athabascan (as noted by Helen Dick and Michelle Ravenmoon). The bag shows red and dark blue wool and calico trade clothe with glass trade seed bead greasy white beadwork with a dog fish or dogfish totem. There are six large hand carved mother of pearl beads on the sash. Collected from the Northwest Coast in 1985, exact age unknown. Truly a unique piece. Measures overall 31”L by 11“W.
