For your consideration is this Arizona Consolidated Gold & Silver Mining Company stock certificate from 1880. The Arizona Consolidated Gold & Silver Mining Co., along with other mining companies, played a role in the boom of Arizona's mining industry. Consolidation efforts, like the Tombstone Consolidated Mines Company, and this one, were common as companies sought to improve efficiency and production. This stock certificate was written out to E.L. Shepard for one-hundred shares at one-hundred dollars a share. It was written in May of 1880 and was numbered 183. It was signed by the secretary and the president of the company at the time. It shows good condition overall with little wear present despite its age and use over the years. It measures 7 5/8" L x 12 5/8" W and weighs under 6 ounces. Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. M67
