Included in this lot we have a Belgian Flobert Style Warnant single shot 8mm parlor rifle. The rifle features a heavy 24 1/4" octagonal barrel, fixed sights, ornate trigger guard, blue'd finish, and checkered walnut stock. The rifle originates from between the early 1890's to the early 1920's. The piece has very few markings, on the top of the barrel is marked "Bllcium" and a "R" with a star above it on the side of the action and receiver. The three main Flobert variants are described and illustrated in Single Shot Rifles And Actions by Frank De Haas. Many Floberts were made of very soft steel and designed to sell at the lowest possible price. In 1920, when a box of 100 blackpowder .22 shorts cost 21 cents, the price of a new Flobert rifle was about $2.50. The rifle shows good condition overall for its age with some dents and slight pitting in areas, there are two sizeable cracks in the walnut stock. The mechanics are fully functioning.
