This is a fantastic circa 1870-1880's Plains beaded bi-point stone head war club from ex-Cowan's Hindman. The stone head head war club exhibits a carved bi-point stone which is secured to the wooden haft with a bent wood strap around the head which is wrapped in parfleche rawhide and sewn with sinew. The entire wooden haft handle is wrapped in parfleche rawhide which is further sinew sewn. The club shows several sections of sinew sewn beadwork in a banded design using all old 1800's glass trade seed beads in colors of cobalt, chalk white, red white heart, greasy pea green and lilac. The end shows a horse hair tail drop on hide dyed green and wrapped in old red trade clothe. Provenance: The piece was found to be an authentic example by the experts at Hindman-Cowans Danica Farnand and Erin Rust from the Plains of the 19th-century. The entire club shows a deep authentic patina from honest age and use with little major damages, showing little bead loss. Measures overall 29-inches, head is 3.75-inches by 2.5-inches by 2 1/8-inches.
