The lot features a fantastic circa 1880-1890 Cheyenne saddle collected near Wind River Indian Reservation Fort Washakie and is from an ex-Trading post near Livingston, Montana. The saddle exhibits a classic early Native American Indian example showing a carved wooden tree with parfleche rawhide and leather accouterments and is adorned with an “X” pattern on top painted red with hide wrapped bottom to the tree shows trade tacks as well. The condition of this pack saddle is preserved with wear consistent with age and use with fading to the red paint to the wooden tree and the rawhide wrapping with only one strap shown present. The measurements of this pack saddle is 10 1/2" x 11 3/4" x 20 1/4". The collective weight of this pack saddle is 5lb 14oz.
