Featured in this lot is this one of a kind (according to acclaimed historian and collector John Gilchriese) C.S. Fly "Stagecoach Robbery Posse" Vendetta Ride cabinet card; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. The cabinet card features a wonderfully and professionally crafted construction that shows a shot of four pack donkeys with provisions and shows in the background the silhouette of Wyatt Earp, Morgan Earp, and Bob Paul getting ready to track down the outlaws that attempted to rob the Shotgun Messenger Service while killing Bud Philpot; Bob Paul after the attempted robbery met back up with Wyatt Earp who testified he was dealing a game of faro bank where he immediately prepared to hit the trail and track the assailants. Many Historians agree that this pinnacle moment started the famous Earp Vendetta Ride predating the gunfight at the O.K. Corral and the murder of Morgan Earp. The cabinet card comes with an original museum tag that reads as follows: Wyatt & Morgan Earp with Bob Paul leaving on a posse to chase the stage robbers who murdered Bud Philpot. Identified by John Gilchriese who said it has to be one of the rarest Fly photos to exist today. The condition of this C.S. Fly Imperial cabinet card is well preserved with with some browning to the cabinet card consistent with its age but otherwise shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this cabinet card is 4 7/8" x 8". E.22
