Featured in this lot is this 19th-early 20th century beaded medicine pouches comprised of Indian tanned hide and beadwork from the Northern Plains Indians. The bag is comprised of thick Indian brain tanned Buffalo Bison hide with excellent geometric and floral beadwork. The beadwork shows amazing geometric pattern with late 19th Century glass trade seed beads in colors of chalk white, medium red, translucent green, sky blue, and translucent yellow. The top of the bag has a zig-zag cut edge. Medicine pouches or medicine bags are exceedingly rare with this being a truly outstanding example. The condition of this pair of medicine pouches is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this collection of medicine pouches is 1 3/8" x 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" x 1 1/2" x 1 3/8". The collective weight of these medicine pouches is U6oz.
