Featured in this lot is this redware pottery from Santa Clara Pueblo potter Anita L. Suazo born in 1937. The olla features a wonderfully and professionally crafted ceramic construction that shows a carved design that shows a classic redware decoration of red slip glaze on the outside of the clay carved with geometric patterns. The bottom of the pottery olla is marked at the bottom of is as follows: Anita L Suazo - Santa Clara. Anita L. Suazo is a well-known potter from Santa Clara Pueblo. She is recognized for her expertise in creating traditional Santa Clara Pueblo pottery, particularly in the black-on-black style that the pueblo is famous for. Anita Suazo comes from a long line of distinguished Santa Clara potters. She learned the craft from her mother and grandmother, both of whom were accomplished potters. This deep family tradition has greatly influenced her work. Anita L. Suazo is highly respected in the Native American art world for her dedication to preserving the traditional pottery methods of Santa Clara Pueblo and for her skillful, beautiful creations. The condition of this Santa Clara Pueblo pottery olla is well preserved with some slight wear from age to the outside glaze but otherwise shows a well preserved condition.
