Featured in this lot is this cabinet card of a miner and his family by Camillus "Buck" Sydney Fly from Tombstone, A.T. circa 19th century; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. This cabinet card features a wonderfully and professionally crafted construction that shows a miner and his family outside of his tent with his daughter on his donkey and wife standing behind a rocking chair. The back of the cabinet card is marked as follows: Fly's Gallery - Tombstone, Ariz. - C.S. Fly, Proprietor. The cabinet card comes complete with an original museum tag is that reads as follows: C.S. Fly Photo. Camillus "Buck" Sydney Fly (May 2, 1849 – October 12, 1901) was an Old West photographer who is regarded by some as an early photojournalist and who captured the only known images of Native Americans while they were still at war with the United States. He took many other pictures of life in the silver-mining boom town of Tombstone, Arizona, and the surrounding region. He recognized the value of his photographs to illustrate periodicals of the day and took his camera to the scenes of important events where he recorded them and resold pictures to editors nationwide. The condition of this of this Camillus "Buck" Sydney Fly cabinet card is preserved with some fading to the cabinet card photograph and a tear to the photograph in the top right hand corner.
