Included in this lot we have a pair of Charles M. Russell bronze Indian portrait plaques originating from 1898. Charles Marion Russell, born March 19th, 1864 in St. Louis Missouri and died on October 24, 1926 in Great Falls Montana. Russell is known for his paintings of cowboys, Indians, and western landscapes, as well as crafting bronze sculptures. The medallions show relief portraits of Native American men titled "Young Man" and "Old Man". The plaques where exclusively sold at Abercrombie & Fitch from 1920 to the 1960's. The Old Man medallion is marked across the back reading "C M Russell" with the young man marked "CM". Both of the plaques come with art gallery tags reading "Charles Marion Russell Indian Head Plaques C. 1898". The pieces show good condition with little to no wear. The young medallion measures 4 1/4" long by 3 1/2 with the old measuring 4" tall by 3 1/2" wide.
