Included in this lot we have a wonderful authentic Tennessee culture period steatite bird pipe found in Cumberland County. The pipe shows steatite stone construction with hand carved design. The piece shows a hand carved bird effigy design with the front having the bird’s neck and head, the bowl being the body, and directly behind the bowl showing the tail feathers. The bottom of the pipe shows a tag reading "Cumberland Co. TN KN-131". The piece is believed to be from 600-1500 A.D. Comes from a Montana collection. The pipe measures 7" long by 1 1/2" wide and 3" tall with the bowl opening measuring 7/8".
