Featured in this lot we have a collection of early Native American Indian polychrome pottery owl effigy figures originating from circa 1900- 1920. The collection is done in the classic early stylings and is truly a wonderful rare effigy collection. These early 20th Century pieces show a handmade pottery construction with polychrome mineral pigment painted design in white, black and red/orange showing a feather and features design. This collection of figures show owls with protruding wings, tail, and facial features with ears. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. The largest one measures 2 3/4" tall by 2 1/2" wide by 1 3/4" deep and the smallest one measuring 3/4" tall by 3/4" wide by 3/4" deep.
