Offered for sale is this special edition Buffalo Bill Historical Center – Winchester Museum Colt Single Action Army revolver which utilizes a 7 ½” fluted barrel chambered in .44-40 and featuring gold and silver plating. As well as extensive coverage of hand engraving (done by A.A. White Engravers) in the Colt style of the 1880s and solid ivory grips with scrimshawed Buffalo Bill motifs and his "TE" cattle brand. The grip panels feature the Colt Custom shop medallion. The barrel is inscribed: Buffalo Bill Historical Center/ Winchester Museum 1 of 250. The back strap is engraved with W.F. Cody’s signature. The left side of the barrel features Winchester’s historic pony express rider and the recoil shield has a bison head among the featured, hand engraved details. In place of the standard Colt patent dates are Cody’s birth and death dates – February 26, 1846 – January 10, 1917”. Also included with this firearm is the original paperwork from the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. Included in this paperwork is the original letter from the Buffalo Bill Historical Center giving first notice to the original buyer about the production of the Colt Limited Edition revolver. As well as the request for reservation of the corresponding serial number to the Scriver bronze in the previous lot (95). The acknowledgement of arrival to the Museum shop at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center of the Colt Revolver and lastly the letter from Colt of the information being inserted into their records of the firearm. The piece is accompanied with a gold embossed and inscribed leather case with French fit velvet interior custom built by Colt’s finest case maker. The cases were produced by Arno Werner, Chief Bookbinder for Harvard's Houghton Library until 1982. These serial numbers are a custom exclusive run from 1WM to 250WM. Serial Number: 157BB.
