For your consideration is a beautiful, original condition, Colt 1851 Navy six-shot .36 Caliber revolver. This fine example of Colt’s most famous and popular model percussion revolver shows no signs of over-cleaning and all markings are sharp and clear, including the barrel stamping, “ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK U.S. AMERICA”. It also has the correct “36 CAL” stamping on the left side of the trigger guard. This exceptional Colt has lovely uncleaned and unpolished mellow brass grip straps and trigger guard, as well as wonderful aged blue patina on the barrel and cylinder and faded, roll engraved cylinder scene depicting a battle between the Texas Navy and Mexico. It has excellent mechanics, screws, and matching serial number, indicating a manufacture date of 1863, which is stamped on the barrel, trigger guard, butt, cylinder, cylinder arbor, and even on the frame wedge. The factory original, one piece walnut grips fit beautifully and still retain good wood finish. The Colt 1851 Navy was one of the most classic sidearms of the Civil War and later in the Old West. Wild Bill Hickock was carrying a pair of Colt 1851 Navy revolvers when he was gunned down in Deadwood, South Dakota on August 2, 1876. This historical Colt holster revolver, with correct factory 6 3/8” octagon barrel, is a very fine example. Uncleaned and original with great appeal and appearance, this Colt would be at home in the finest firearm, Civil War, or Western collections. Serial Number: 174059. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
