Featured in this lot we have a Colt Single Action Navy revolver with case. This revolver is chambered in .36 caliber and manufactured by Colt in 1851. This fine example of Colt’s most famous and popular model percussion revolver features a 7 1/2" long octagonal barrel, six shot cylinder, single action hammer, under barrel ram rod, and hardwood grips. The Colt 1851 Navy was one of the most classic side arms of the Civil War and later in the Old West. Wild Bill Hickock was carrying a pair of Colt 1851 Navy revolvers when he was gunned down in Deadwood, South Dakota on August 2, 1876. This excellent revolver features a blue'd finish across the barrel and cylinder, case hardening on the frame, hammer, and under barrel ram rod with the trigger guard and back strap showing a silvered finish. The cylinder displays an engraved image of sailing ships and marked "COLT'S PATENT No 7351 Engraved by W.L. Ormsby New York ~ ENGAGED 16 MAY 1843". Mechanically the revolver shows clean mechanics, crisp trigger, and good ration timing on the cylinder. The revolver displays matching serial numbers with the top of the barrel reading "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY" with the left side of the frame marked "COLTS PATENT". The revolver comes with a wonderful hard wood display/storage case. The case is constructed from wonderful hard wood with brass hinges and clasps with the interior displaying a red velvet interior with indent markings for a pair of revolvers. The revolver shows good condition with little to no wear across the piece. The pistol and case weigh 5lbs 8oz. Serial Number: 7351.
