Featured in this lot is an Early 1900's Bokhara Afghan Wool Rug. The rug shows a nice thick pile with a deep red background and floral/medallion motifs. The rug also features a black and white checkered border on the two short ends, as well as ivory fringe. Bukhara is an ancient city in the central Asian country of Uzbekistan. It was a prominent stop on the Silk Road trade route between the East and the West, and a major medieval center for Islamic theology and culture (Wikipedia). This rug is in good condition and measures 52" x 31.5".
