For your bidding pleasure we have this beautiful Early 20th C. Hand Woven Persian Gabbeh Rug. The circulation of Persian Gabbeh rugs from Iran into the Western market is relatively new. These rugs were being woven in Persia in the 1500's but were unheard of until fifty years ago. The rug shows plush wool pile and low knot count and is fairly coarse showing a thick pile. With simple geometric shapes on the rugs border, with bold and bright reds, friendly yellows, and a variety of different shades of blues. The symmetry of the rug shows rows of bird depictions in different colors along with tassels on both ends of the rug. The measurements of this rug is 79" x 43".
