Featured in this lot is this Vintage Eaton's Trapper Point 3.5 Point Wool Blanket, circa 1950-1960s. Made in England, Eaton's of Canada Trapper Point blankets were manufactured at the Witney mill in Oxfordshire for Eaton's. The T. Eaton Company Limited, later known as Eaton's and then Eaton, was a Canadian department store chain that was once the largest in the country. It was founded in 1869 in Toronto by Timothy Eaton, an immigrant from what is now Northern Ireland. Eaton's grew to become a retail and social institution in Canada, with stores across the country, buying-offices around the globe, and a mail-order catalog that was found in the homes of most Canadians. The blanket features the original attached Eaton's label intact, The blanket features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wool construction that shows a dark red colouration with two broad black stripes oriented width-wise, one at the top and one at the bottom, and the four black points located above one broad stripe and the label. This beautiful blanket is in good overall condition with one small hole repair noted, end stitching missing in places. Measures 60"W x 90"L, weight 4lb, 2oz.
