Available in this lot we have a Thomas A. Edison Fireside combination type phonograph with a collection of 68 standard size phonograph cylinders. The Edison Phonograph Company was formed on October 8, 1887, to market Edison's machine. He introduced the Improved Phonograph by May of 1888, shortly followed by the Perfected Phonograph. This phonograph most likely dates after Thomas Edison brought back is idea in 1894. This Edison Fireside Combination style wax cylinder phonograph player was one of the last Edison produced to have a swing out endgate. The phonograph is set into a oak box with removable lid and comes with its original horn. The front of the phonograph is marked "Trade Thomas A Edison Mark" as well as has Edison across the front of the oak box. The piece shows a metal manufacturers plaque across the top back of the phonograph with manufacturer information, model name and number, serial numbers, ect. The horn shows red and gold coloration with white and pink roses painted on the interior. The phonograph comes with a collection of cylinder records with many showing their original packaging in varying states of wear. The piece shows good condition overall with all the mechanical components in working order, however it needs a new belt and its missing the horn connector. The phonograph piece measures 11 1/2" wide by 9" deep and approximately 11 1/4" tall, with the horn measuring 21 1/2" tall with a 18" diameter.
