This iconic Western bronze by James Earle Fraser (American, 1876-1953) is one of the most recognized symbols of the American West. Fraser meant it to be viewed as a reverent memorial to a valiant people. The sculpture depicts the raw emotion of a lone Indian figure with his horse, both exhausted after years of a losing battle. The horse stands on a rocky bronze base. It is dated 1894 and is signed by the artist. The bronze sits on an oak base and measures 12.75" x 6.75" x 15.5" tall.
