Featured in this lot is a novel collection of "The Old Man and The Sea" and "Death in the Afternoon," by Ernest Hemingway, who was born in 1899 and died in 1961. There are two books in this collection. The first is a 1952 first edition of The Old Man and The Sea by Ernest Hemingway; the book is an idyll of the sea as sea, as un-Byronic and un-Melvillian as Homer himself, and communicated in a prose as calm and compelling as Homer's verse. The second book is a 1932, first edition of Death in the Afternoon by Ernest Hemingway and is Hemingway's famous treatise on bullfighting. The condition of this pair of books is preserved with some wear to the dust jacket and browning to the pages which is consistent with the age of the books, and they show some wear to the outside corners of the spine and covers, but otherwise they are well preserved. The measurements of this book are 8 1/4" x 5 5/8" and 8 1/4" x 5 3/4". The collective weight of these books is 1lb 10oz.*
