This is an original photograph showing a group returning from a hunt on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Montana and is dated circa 1911. The piece is marked, "RETURNS-FROM-A-HUNT-ON-THE-FLATHEAD-RESERVATION-MONT. / T.A.V.S. 1911 COPY'T F.F.F.F" and hand written, "STEVENS DURYEA CAR.". The photograph shows exceptional subject matter with the two hunters atop of the car with one holding his priced rifle atop their Stevens-Duryea automobile which is stacked high with seven large deer. The piece also shows the wife of the man standing at the edge of the car and the child with stocking at the front of the car on the left. Stevens-Duryea was an American manufacturer of automobiles in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts from 1901 to 1915 and 1919 to 1927. The company was a joint venture between J. Frank Duryea and J. Stevens Arms and Tool Company. The cars are now immensely collectible and sell at auction in fine condition for over $300,000. This is truly a wonderful original authentic photograph with exceptional subject matter having a very rare automobile, in Flathead Indian country of Montana and an amazing hunt. The piece measures 10" wide by 8" tall with the photo measuring 7" wide by 5 1/8" tall.
