Featured in this lot is this Fort Berthold Indian Village at Fort Clark circa 1872. The photograph features a scene of the run down reality of the structure of Fort Berthold after the fight at Fort Clark. The photograph was originally taken and never published from stereopticon slides. W.E. Badger was an artist known for capturing Western and Native American themes in his artwork. His pieces often depicted scenes of Native life, cowboy culture, and landscapes of the American West. Badger’s style was characterized by a realistic approach that emphasized the vibrant and rugged atmosphere of his subjects. His work has been appreciated by collectors who are drawn to the cultural and historical aspects of the Western genre. The condition of this framed albumen photograph is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage to the photograph and shows only very slight wear to the wooden frame.
