Featured in this lot are two fossilized Trilobites in stone, found in Morocco from the Permian age (299-251 million years ago). The Permian is a geologic period and stratigraphic system which spans 47 million years from the end of the Carboniferous Period 298.9 million years ago, to the beginning of the Triassic Period, 251.9 million years ago. It is the last period of the Paleozoic Era. The Trilobites have been fossilized in a flat state, showing smooth surfaces on the fossils. The trilobites show good detail, despite being embedded in the rock, showing all three lobes: a left pleural lobe, a middle axial lobe, and a right pleural lobe. The piece shows good condition overall with the Trilobite showing no obvious damage. The fossils measure 4" in length and 2 3/4" in width. The rock they are embedded in measures 5 3/8" L x 6 5/8" W x 1 1/8" D. It weighs 1 pound and 12 ounces.
