Featured in this lot is this Gilbert & Bacon "Lotta Crabtree" cabinet card circa 19th century; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. This cabinet card features a wonderfully and professionally crafted construction that shows the actress Lotta Crabtree posing in a fancy dress and her hair done up. The cabinet card is marked as follows: Gilbert & Bacon - No. 40 N. 8th St. & 820 Arch St. Phila. Charlotte Mignon "Lotta" Crabtree (November 7, 1847 – September 25, 1924), also known mononymously as Lotta, was an American actress, entertainer, comedian, and philanthropist. Born in New York City and raised in the gold mining hills of Northern California, she rose to fame as a child performer. Crabtree became one of the wealthiest and most beloved American entertainers of the late 19th century. From her beginnings as a 6-year-old until her retirement at age 45, she entertained and was named "The Nation's Darling". Her life story was filmed as Golden Girl (1951), starring Mitzi Gaynor. The condition of this Gilbert & Bacon cabinet card is well preserved with some wear to the top right hand corner and shows some browning to the cabinet card due to age but otherwise shows a well preserved condition.
