For your consideration is this first edition book titled, "The Photographic Baseball Cards of Goodwin & Company (1886-1890)" by Jay Miller, Joe Gonsowski and Richard Masson and a PSA graded and authenticated 1887 N172 Old Judge Will Gleason Portrait in Stripped Cap baseball card circa 2008 (Book) and 1887 (Baseball Card). The book is superbly put together, hardbound with a dust cover, and features nearly 500 pages filled with over 2500 images of late-1880s baseball athletes and teams. The book provides images of virtually all the players and team variations in the Old Judge set (N172 and N173 in the American Card Catalogue), revealing the set's mysteries. The book discusses the history of Goodwin & Co., how the company created and issued its cards, how to determine the year cards were issued, how to recognize counterfeit, and biographies of all 521 players in the set. The PSA graded card shows a portrait of St. Louis Browns player Will Gleason wearing a stripped cap and his player shirt reading, "St. Louis". Gleason entered the majors in 1882 with the St. Louis Browns, where he and Jack Gleason were the first siblings to play in the same major league infield.
