Featured in this lot is this signed limited edition lithograph done by renowned artist Howard Terpning titled, "Crow Camp, 1864" done in 1994. This limited edition litho is hand signed and numbered by the artist on the print itself and hand numbered on the original Certificate of Authenticity. Terpning first gained attention with his captivating advertising and story illustrations, film fans praised his movie posters for such classics as The Sound of Music, Dr. Zhivago and the re-issue of Gone with the Wind. But his love of the West and Native American traditions saw his transition to fine art. Howard Terpning is one of the most desired, notable and most lauded painters of Western art of the 21st century and is known for his impressive depictions of the Native American Indian culture. His awards are so numerous and he is honored with them so often, that to list them would require changing the count every few months. To name three would be to cite the highest prizes awarded to Western art: countless awards from the Cowboy Artists of America, the Hubbard Art Award for Excellence, the National Academy of Western Art's Prix de West and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Autry National Center. Terpning is also an Emeritus member of the Cowboy Artists of America. "Crow Camp, 1864" shows an average evening at a Crow camp in 1864. The men have just finished eating and they saddle up their horses as they prepare for an evening ride, as the women stand around the cook fires and finish making their dinner. In the scene you can see an unfinished teepee, buffalo meat drying on racks and craddleboards leaning up against a teepee as children and dogs play throughout the camp. Terpning says he wanted to create a late afternoon camp scene with a good mood showing the way of life of the Native Americans in the West. The litho shows great colors and amazing attention to detail, with good shadows and the soft evening light giving the litho a great contrast of colors. The piece is signed and numbered in the bottom left hand corner reading, "Terpning 373/1,000". The lithograph shows good condition with no signs of damage or wear present and comes in the original paper sleeve with the Certificate of Authenticity. The piece measures 21 3/4" L x 32 3/4" W.
