Featured in this lot is this hand carved, Meerschaum, art nouveau pipe, circa 1940's. The pipe shows an iconic Meerschaum design with an art nouveau floral decoration to the outside wall of the pipe bowl. The pipe was constructed by Hayim Pinhas from Istabul, Turkey. A meerschaum pipe is a smoking pipe made from the mineral sepiolite, also known as meerschaum. Meerschaum (German for "sea foam") is sometimes found floating on the Black Sea and is rather suggestive of sea foam. The condition of this pipe is good, albeit used. The measurements of this pipe are 2 1/4" x 1 1/2" x 6".
