For your consideration is this Iselin, New Jersey First Aid Squad hat badges. There are three hat badges in this collection, showing a Maltese Cross with an eagle perched on top and a first aid cross centered on the Maltese cross. The first badge reads “1st. Lieut. Iselin First Aid Squad”. The second badge reads “2nd. Lieut. Iselin First Aid Squad”. The last badge reads “Asst. Capt Iselin First Aid Squad”. In 1937, the concept of community ambulance service was started in Woodbridge Township with the organization of the Woodbridge Emergency Squad. The Squad consisted of volunteers who responded from home to the station for emergencies. The condition of these hat badges is good, with no obvious signs of damage; the brass colored hat badge does show wear consistent with its age.
