Featured in this lot is this L.A. Huffman (1854-1931) collotype called "Buffalo Grazing Big Open Northern Montana" originally taken in 1880. The collotype features a scene of 13 total buffalo grazing in the open prairie with the hillside in the distance. The collotype is marked at the bottom as follows: 107 - Buffalo grazing Big Open Northern Montana 1880 - L.A. Huffman. The collotype features a museum or collectors tag that reads as follows: 1396-87 - O'dell. The collotype is also labeled on the front as follows: PTE - North Montana. 1880. The condition of this L.A. Huffman collotype is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage to the collotype and only slight wear tot he outside frame of the collotype. The measurements of this collotype is 7 3/4" x 14 3/4" and the visible collotype measures 6 3/4" x 13 3/4". The collective weight of this collotype is 1lb 2oz. Provenance: From the John Kleinschmidt collection which was on loan to the C.M. Russell Museum from 1987 to 1993 and included in the "The Cowboy West: 100 Years of Photography 1992-1993 exhibit.
