This lot includes an exceptional ancient Native American Indian Hardin spear point. The large point measures 9 5/8" long, and displays random flaking, elliptical shape, and a prominent acute shoulder, with a very subtle concave base. Points such as these are found in the Midwest region of the United States, and typically date between 10,000 - 7,500 B.P.. This excellent example of a Hardin spear point shows characteristics of local chert. John Powell named the Southeastern Hardin for examples sparsely scattered across the Southeastern United States. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery.
