The lot features a large vintage handmade pottery olla with beautiful sgraffito (incised carving) and polychrome painting by Mata Ortiz potter, E. Quintana (also referred to as Eliazan Quintana and Eleozan Quintana). The piece is a handmade large pottery olla with wide body and flaring lip being completely incise carved . engraved with a geometric and pictorial pattern as well as polychrome painted, a classic Mata Ortiz styling. The piece shows several imaged of a human figure kneeling as well as butterflies. The piece is signed on the bottom "Eliazan Quintana". The piece was found to be an authentic example by the experts at Hindman and Cowan's auction. Provenance: From the Collection of Robert P. Hunter, Jr. and Barbara Hunter, Alpharetta, Georgia.
