For your consideration is this leather bound copy of "The Home Library of Useful Knowledge", compiled by Richard S. Peale. This volume was published by The Home Library Association, Chicago, the publisher name and the name of the book club. Meant for "self instruction in all branches of popular education", the 830 page volume is abundantly illustrated. In the front of the book is a Certificate of Membership, signed and dated July 29th 1886 by the agent. Interestingly, the member's name is entered as "Mr. F.L. Benepe". As an aside, here in Bozeman, Frank L. Benepe opened a hardware store in 1879 that would eventually come to be known as Owenhouse Ace Hardware. This book is in outstanding condition, having a tight binding with good endpapers. The book measures 9" wide x 11" tall x 2.5" thick.
