Included in this lot for sale is a turn of the century Louis Vuitton steamer trunk. The luggage shows the iconic "LV" monogram canvas, and utilizes exceptional brass hardware. The trunk is labeled and distributed by George Burroughs & Sons, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Geo. Burroughs started manufacturing, and selling trunks in Wisconsin in 1867, and died in 1921 - The trunk shows typical design quality of a Louis Vuitton originating from the late 1800's, or early 1900's. The trunk has three inserts, a small basket, a shoe and hat compartment, and a large compartment on the bottom. The trunk is branded in numerous spots, reading; "I.Rue Scribe - Paris - Louis Vuitton - 149. New Bond ST. - London - 130938" on the inside of the lid, GEO. BURROUGHS and SONS - Trunks and leather goods - Milwaukee, Wis. - 424-426 East Water St." on the interior pleating, "I. Rue Scribe - PARIS - Louis Vuitton - LONDON - 149 New Bond Street - MADE IN FRANCE" on each brass handle, and "GEO. - BURROUGHS & SONS - MILWAUKEE, WIS - TRUNK MANUFACTURES" on the top of the lid. Overall, the trunk shows good condition for age - the interior liner shows deterioration. The trunk is absent of its key. 43 1/4" wide, 23 1/2" deep, and 22 3/4" tall.
